New Equpiment

Subject Media aquires Canon’s Newest 7D Camera and Canon’s 70-200mm 2.8L IS lense..

From the start of Subject Media, the idea of inexpensive equipment, low overhead and effective techniques to ensure quality and low expense to our clients has been strong. For the past three years, I have been using Canon’s 30D as my main still shot camera and a 70-300mm 5.6 lense. Both equal around $1400 combined. Though the cost of these two pieces of equipment were low, I have been very happy with them both. The 30D is in my mind the perfect camera for the beginning serious photographer. In it’s time, it was the entry level camera for professional photographers. But, with the 40D and 50D, the camera’s do come with extra options, are a little bit faster, larger LCD etc.. they are also larger, heavier, have more options which will more likely confuse an beginner with the multiple menus and options available. The 30D seemed to be much more straight forward, easy to work with and easier to use at long periods of time than the 40D and 50D. Plus, the price at this point is very inexpensive. I am more of a fan of the 18-55mm IS lense you can get now than the 28-128mm IS you get with the 40D and 50D. Sure, the 28-135mm looks larger and nicer, but its very heavy and cannot come close to the wideness of the 18-55mm, which I find very usefull at times. Many of my favorite photos were taken with Canon’s 18-55mm non-IS lense.

Now, after using the 7D and 70-200mm 2.8L IS, I believe our work will be expanded a tremendous amount! The 7D is a cross between the 50D and 5D ideals, though not sharing much technology from either. It is not a full frame camera, but does not seem to pose much of a problem in low light and noise considering it will go to 12500 ISO, especially with 1.8 or 2.8 lenses that we have. In addition, the weight is almost exactly of the 30D, it is very low key. The construction is good as always from canon and extremely fast. It is Canon’s only SLR that uses two DiGiC-4 processors, which are extremely fast to begin with. The 1D MKIII and 5D MKII utilize one processor each and are considered very fast cameras. It uses an 18 megalpixel sensor, whcih is a hefty upgrade from the 30D’s 8 megapixels. Thats an increase of 10 million pixels! This camera uses brand new autofocus, light metering and much more technology from the industry’s leader, Canon. This camera teamed with Canon’s famous 70-200mm 2.8L IS lense is beautiful. Take any picture you want. If its sports, the 7D’s super fast 8 – 9 shots per second and the L-Series lense super fast focusing power will capture everything you want in either panning or stop motion. In low light situations, the new light technology in the 7D and the 2.8 aperture is perfect for low light. The 70-200mm L series also has two Image Stablization settings, one for static images and one for motion. This combination is a combination to be reconed with by other high end cameras and photographers.

On top of this, the 7D shoots in Full 1920×1080 HD video. It will shoot 30, 25 or 24 Progressive frames in 1080P and a max of 60 Progressive frames in 720P and SD. This opens the door even wider for us to expand our already professional quality film service. Depth of field shots are going to be on another level mixed between this 7D and our XH-A1. This new equipment expands our stillshot euipment from roughly $2,000 to $7,000 and increases our overall equipment value from $5,500 to 12,500. Subject Media has the capability to bringing your ideas and dreams to a reality.
